Just when we thought life couldn't get any better along came Saige! We welcomed our beautiful daughter on July 1, 2009 at 4:32 AM. Weighing in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces and 19.5 inches long. We feel so blessed to have her in our lives and to share such love!

Christmas 2010

Christmas this year held a new sort of magic for us as we were able to share it with Saige. While she didn't completely understand the concept of Santa coming down the chimney to fill her stocking, she definitely knows who Santa and Rudolf are. Or Tanta and Nose as she calls them.

Opening presents took most the day, as Saige had to play with each new toy she received. She was a spoiled girl this year and got lots of great new things!

As we always say, we are very blessed.

Where's that belly button!?!

15 Months Old!

It's been awhile since we've given an update on Saige! And there's been a lot to report! She's now 100% toddler. INTO EVERYTHING! Taking pictures has been a challenge lately because she simply won't sit still! But we've been having a blast - she's so inquistive, happy and fun!
She currently weighs 25 1/2 pounds and is 31 inches long. This puts her around the 80th percentile for weight and 65th for height. Still a big girl!

And part of the reason she's so big is because she loves to eat! We keep hearing horror stories about toddlers that are picky eaters, but so far, knock-on-wood, Saige is a great eater. She'll eat just about anything, particularily if it came from Mommy's plate. On a typical day she might eat a 2 egg omelette for breakfast, half of a tuna fish and pickle sandwich for lunch and a giant bowl of spinach and chicken for dinner.

Saige's vocabulary has exploded. Every day she suprises us with a new word. Her words now are: Mama, Dada, Tica, Mary, kitty, meow, hi, yum-yum, baby, ee-i-ee-i-oh, bee, ball, car, uh-oh and wow.

Books are Saige's favorite thing right now. She loves to "read" her books by pointing to the pictures and saying the things she knows. She's constantly bringing books to us to read to her. Which of course we can't resist! She's just too cute!

Nothing new to report on the sleep.... she still sleeps great at night and not so good for naps. Most days she'll still (hopefully!) take two naps.

She keeps on our toes, but oh is she fun! :)

Whistler Vacation

We spent 3 nights in Whistler BC over Labor Day weekend and had a great time! Saige is now at the age where traveling is a breeze...she did great during the 5 hour car ride and slept well at night. And she LOVED all the new sights! We took the gondola up the mountain and did some hiking, played in the pool, and Mom and Dad had a night on the town. We had so much fun!

Saige is walking!

Over a month after taking her first step Saige is finally WALKING! It just clicked! Now she's really all over the place and into everything! And in addition to walking she's climbing on everything too - she can climb up onto the coffee table, into the bathtub and up steps. She's really a toddler now!

What a goofball!

This kid always keeps us laughing!

Spoiled!

Grandma Julie gave Saige her very own tent! Perfect for peek-a-boo!

And Grandpa Steve made Saige her very own chair! It also doubles as a stool which we're hoping Saige will be using very, very soon for climbing up onto the potty!

Saige's First Step!

Saige took her first step today! Now it's really official - we have a toddler!

Stats

Today Saige had her 1 year check-up. Doctor confirmed it - she's doing great! She now weighs just over 23 pounds and is in the 70-75th percentile for both height and weight. Saige is ahead of most with regards to her teeth - she now has 10 teeth, 2 of which are molars!

Still not quite walking but she's darn close! But even though she can't walk she can still crawl at lightning speed and get into EVERYTHING!

Happy 1st Birthday Saige!

We've been stalling a bit in posting the photos of Saige's birthday party(s). This is partially because we've been out-of-town, but partially because it's still hard to believe.... our little baby is one! This birthday marks the end of babyhood and the beginning of toddlerhood. Crazy!

Crazy to think that just one year ago we were meeting our beautiful daughter for the first time. Crazy to think that just one year ago we became a family of three. Crazy to think that our little baby is now talking and almost walking. Crazy to think that there was ever life before our Saige.

In this past year we've watched as her personality and looks developed. We now have a vision of what she'll be like as a child, a teenager, and even an adult. She'll be a blue-eyed blondie, with a mind of her own and a happy disposition. She'll be a social butterfly and not one to be shy around others. Maybe a bit of a tomboy too.

Saige is now soooo close to walking! She's walking around furniture and can push her walker-car thing around. She's also able to balance without holding onto anything for a good 30 seconds. We're guessing she'll take her first step any day now. It's so funny... we claim we don't want her to start walking, yet we constantly encourage her.

As for talking, Saige is being funny..... A month or so ago she was saying several words (Dada, kitty, yum-yum and Mama). Now, it's only Mama. Mama, Mama, Mama..... We know it's just a phase but Mama is all she'll say. Poor Dada.

Saige had two birthday parties. The first was here in Seattle. There were babies everywhere! Saige got her first taste of sugar and she LOVED it. The second party was in Mt. Shasta at Grandma's house. Again, the sugar was a hit! At both parties Saige had adorable bunny cakes. Saige is so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family to celebrate with her!

And speaking of friends and family, we must give a special thanks to everyone for their love and support during this past year. We survived! And we did a pretty darn good job if we do say so! But we couldn't have done it with out you! Maybe love is blind, but we really don't remember this past year being so tough - Terra never really experienced any exhaustion, Clif and Terra got along great and still managed to find some time together, and they both kept up a social life. Not bad!

With the closing of year one, we're now looking ahead to the new adventures we'll be having with Saige. We're so lucky!

11 Months Old!

Only 1 month until the big ONE! Can't believe how fast this year is going!

It seems that Saige has been growing and developing at warp speed this past month. Everyday, maybe even every hour, she is doing something new. A few highlights....

- First words - We'd hoped Saige's first real words would be "Mama" or "Dada." We thought for sure her first word would be "Tica." But noooo.... her first word is "Kitty!" Clear as can be, everytime she sees Lovebug she says "Key-eeee!!!" and points. In fact, she says Key-eeee whenever she sees any cat. Another one of her words is yum-yum. Her favorite food is cheese and whenever she eats it she'll chant "um, um, um, um." Saige frequently says Mama and Dada too but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why she's saying it. Hopefully by the next update....

- Speed Crawler - Saige can crawl so fast now! Her little butt wiggles from side to side as she bombs around from room to room. So cute. She's also pulling herself up to a standing position and lunging from one piece of furniture to another.

- Eebble-Beeble Master - We'll get a video posted soon to explain this one.

- Copycatter. Saige will clap, wave, blow, shake her head, scrunch her face and do her eeble-beebles after someone else does it. Infact, you just have to say the word and she'll do it!

And we must give a special thanks to Grandpa Steve for teaching Saige to play peek-a-boo with her bib. Saige now flips her bib (filled with food no less) over her head after every meal... Good trick Grandpa!

Saige's 1st Camping Trip

Clif and Terra have always said that just because they have a baby they're not going to stop doing the things they've always loved. So, despite terrible weather and needing a ton of gear, the Weeks went camping! Saige loved it - She was mesmerized by the tent, the water, the campfire....she never stopped smiling and laughing. We're already planning our next camping adventure!

The tent was the coolest place. Ever.

Happy Mother's Day!

I started to write and say that I was treated as a queen today. But as I thought about it I realized that I am always treated like a queen. Everyday is Mother's Day for this girl! I've got it good; my husband cooks EVERY meal, cleans, and takes care of the yard. My baby sleeps through the night, is always smiling and rarely cries. Even my cat and dog treat me well!

Most importantly today was a day for me to celebrate the mothers in my life. My mom and grandmothers were in my heart today; the day was not complete without them. Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers in my life!

Saige Bunny is 10 Months Old!

And here we go again! Another month has snuck up on us. Saige is 10 months old today!

There was lots of celebrations today. We started out the day attending the 1st birthday party for twins, Liam and Grace. For those of you who don't know Liam and Grace, they are Saige's bestest friends. Watching Saige play with other kiddos her age was so fun! She's such a ham! We're still waiting for the "stranger anxiety phase" that everyone keeps talking about; so far Saige is a social butterfly - she loves meeting new people (especially kids!) and being the center of attention. No stranger anxiety for our girl!

Clif and Terra also celebrated the 5-year anniversary of their first date. Every year we go back to Bizarro, the restaurant we went on our first date. We reflected on all the great things that have happened in these past 5 years and how lucky we are. Who would have thought that 5 years after that first date there'd be a wedding, a house, a dog, and a baby!

Saige had many accomplishments this past month, with the most significant being her learning to crawl! At first she'd only crawl a few feet at a time but now she's truckin' Just this morning she followed Lovebug (the cat) all around the living room. She's also learned how to pull herself up to a standing position. There's no stopping her now!

Copycat games are a hit now too. You shake your head, Saige will shake her head. You clap your hands, Saige claps her hands. You wave, Saige waves.

We're starting to feel that the days of babyhood are almost behind us and childhood is creeping up on us. Saige is becoming more and more of a little girl versus a little baby. She's so independent and self-sufficent now! She crawls where she wants, feeds herself and vocalizes her likes and dislikes.

Day-to-day life with Saige has become much easier too. Not that she was ever a difficult baby, but now it's really easy. She's on a set schedule, goes down easily for naps and bedtime, sleeps through the night and almost never fusses. And there's always a smile on her face!

We are loving life!

9 Months Old!

Nearly everyday Clif and Terra ask this question:

"Are we just bias or is Saige really THAT cute?!?"

And then we look at each and smile because we know the answer. She is THAT cute.

Today Saige is 9 months old! In just this last month she's changed so much! A few highlights:

- Still not crawling but close! She's gotten so good at pivoting and rolling to her destination that crawling may have lost it's appeal.
- Saige said "Dada!" Now granted, she'd been relentlessly babbling "dadada" for days but Clif and Terra swear she clearly said Dada when Clif walked into the room. Twice.
- 7 teeth and counting!
- Feeding herself. She's gotten so good that she now prefers to feed herself instead of Mom or Dad using a spoon. Little Miss Independent.
- Saige can wave HI! We take her to the local coffee shop just so she can sit by the door and wave at each person that comes through the door.
- Everything is a game! Saige plays her own peek-a-boo games and when she's bounced she'll say "uhuhuh". She laughs and laughs!
- Got her first ear infection (in both ears). She was such a trooper! Through it all she still maintained her happy disposition.
- Saige is still sleeping relatively good at night but naps continue to be a challenge. She just doesn't want to miss a thing!

At our pediatrician appointment today we were told that Saige is doing great! She's communicating, making eye contact, using her hands and all around developing right on schedule.

Saige is weighing in these days at 20 pounds, 9 ounces and is 29 3/4 inches long. She's still in the 90th percentile for length but weight wise she's dropped to the 70th percentile. So she's tall! Wonder where she gets that from? :)

Life is good!
